The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has set up wellness club comprising Nutrition Clinics; and Yoga Therapy Centre in order to address the issue of malnutrition through awareness and clinical aspects to the people.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has set up wellness club comprising Nutrition Clinics; and Yoga Therapy Centre in order to address the issue of malnutrition through awareness and clinical aspects to the people. The club established by the National Institute of Food Sciences and Technology (NIFSAT) in collaboration with School of Nutrition Lahore was inaugurated by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan along with MNA Rana Afzal. Registrar Muhammad Husain, Treasurer Umer Saeed, Controller Dr Abdul Wahid; Deans Prof Dr Iqbal Zafar, Dr Allah Buksh, Prof Dr Muhammad Javaid, Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar; members of visiting team of Senior Management Course and others were present on the occasion. They also inaugurated the Food Club set up at the Nifsat. The Vice Chancellor said more than 40 percent of children are malnourished and around 60 percent of women are anaemic. He said that malnutrition is the one of the biggest challenges for the country. He was of the view that the changing lifestyle and eating habits are causing many diseases including heart, diabetics, obesity and others. He suggested the usage of the balanced diet keeping in view its nutritional value and making the physical activities like exercise, walk or sport as the routine matter. He said that the UAF has launched the BS programme in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in order to prepare the manpower. He said that combination of vegetables, grains, meat and fruit is important. The people should avoid excessive usage of oil, salt and sugar in diet, he suggested. NIFSAT Director General Prof Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that the awareness among the segment of the society regarding balanced use of diet was prerequisite for development. He said that if we adopt the measures, the ratio of diseases can be lowered down. He said that the Nifsat was taking all out step to produce the quality manpower, research and nutritional food habits. School of Nutrition Lahore CEO Shazia Zahra said that the wellness club will also treat the patients and would also create the awareness among the people through consultancy, seminars etc and. She said the event management will be dealt at the food club.
