Like other part of the country, World Polio Day was observed at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). In this regard, seminar and walk were arranged on the direction of Prime Minister to raise the awareness among the masses about precautionary measures to eradicate the menace of polio from the country. UAF marks World Polio Day UAF marks World Polio Day Addressing the participants at UAF Day Care Centre , Principal Officer Students Affairs Prof Dr Muhammad Younas called for creating awareness among the people about vaccination so that increasing threat of polio could be eradicated. He was of the view that the Government was making all-out efforts to fight the epidemic of polio playing havoc with the lives of affected people. He urged the students to play their effective role in the anti-polio drive. Public Relations and Publications Principal Officer Prof Dr Jalal Arif said that media was playing an active role in sensitizing the public. He hoped that the country would emerge a polio free country soon. He said that the UAF was taking all possible steps in this regard. Senior Media Officer UAF Dr Jamel Asghar said that as many as 217 cases of the polio had been detected in the county this year. He said that FATA was having highest number of polio this year that is around 140 cases. The Punjab has the only three polio cases this year. He said that it is the duty of parents and teachers to highlight the importance of vaccination. Health Department representatives Asghar Ali, Riaz and Muhammad Akram said that Faisalabad was the polio free from the last ten years. Laboratory Junior School and Day Care Centre Children were also administrated the polio vaccination on the occasion.
