UAF was making all-out efforts to strengthen the Distance Learning Mechanism with the help of latest technologies including massive open online courses (MOOCs).

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has drawn up state-of-the-art online learning mechanism to make lectures available on internet through live and recorded streaming in order to facilitate the students. This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while talking to Deans Committee on Monday. He said UAF was making all-out efforts to strengthen the distance learning mechanism with the help of latest technologies including massive open online courses (MOOCs). He said that under the distance learning, Master programmes MSs/ MA Mathematics, Sociology, Economics, English, M.Com, M.Ed and others are being offered. He was of the view that the distance learning programmes will help the students continue their studies who cannot take regular classes because of their jobs and other factors. He also directed the staff members to take tangible efforts to sharpen the God-given skills of the students with the use of modern teaching methods by providing them state-of-the-art facilities. Talking about admissions, he said the admissions at the UAF are stretching to 20,000 students. He said that the UAF is mapping out one window admission facility at the faculty level . He directed the UAF staff to make all possible steps to ensure the quality education, produce tangible researches and disseminate knowledge among the farming community. He was of the view that the research outcomes should not be piled up in the libraries. These must be translated into goods and services. He said that the UAF had expedited its outreach programmes to create awareness among the farming community. He said that production in major crops was facing stagnation. Whereas, demand is boosting with increasing population.
