Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahamd Khan addresses teaching community of the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Social Sciences

Effective role of teachers is prerequisite to transform the society and promote the sense of responsibility to make progress in every sphere of life, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He was addressing the teaching community of the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Social Sciences. He stressed upon the teacarts to play their due role in refurbishing the inbuilt skills of the students so that they can shoulder their responsibility efficiently. He said modern teaching methods must be adopted in order to compete with the rest of the world. The world is progressing with a large pace because of education and knowledge. The country is lagging behind in the literacy rate compared to the world. It is need of the hour to raise awareness among the people regarding the importance of education. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the Government for the educational sector. He said that Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) worth Rs 12 billion, distribution of laptops, Danish schools, 100 percent enrolment literacy are the hallmark steps that will move the country to the new dimension of progress. The steps will also cater to the affluent section of the society. Talking about the University, he said that all possible measures are being taken to ensure the quality education coupled with modern facilities. The campus will be able to accommodate the additional 2,500 students in hostels within three years. He also said that the university-industry linkages are being strengthened. He said that common research laboratories would be established by polling the resources. He said that facility of lecture theaters, women complex, Day Care Centre had been added to the campus. He said that management is considering to construct an underpass at Rajewala Road to facilitate the students and faculty. He hoped that the teaching community will make all-out efforts to polish the skills of the students. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof Dr Muhammad Arshad also spoke on the occasion.
