Cock Distribution Ceremony held at UAF

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Saturday distributed cocks and hens among 100 employees of the university BPS 1 and BPS 2 in order to help them meet their livelihoods. The distribution ceremony was presided over by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan arranged by Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics (ABG) . Dean Prof Dr Ahsan-ul-Haq, ABG Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Sajjad Khan and others were also present on the occasion. Addressing on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that the distribution of Uni-Gold breed of hens and cocks will help the grade 1 and Grade 2 to meet the livelihood . He said that the UAF is also providing the wheat to university employees on interest free installments. Talking about the agriculture, he said that agriculture is the backbone of our economy. The rural development is directed linked to the agriculture sector and majority of our population is residing in rural areas. He sid that per acre production is low that can be boosted up by shunning the traditional way of farming and replace them with modern methods. He said that UAF has expedited its outreach programme to transfer the knowledge into goods and services. Prof Dr Muhammad Sajjad said that we have provided the hens and cocks to the rural farmers as one of the steps for poverty alleviation.
