Higher Education Commission Executive Director Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi visits UAF

Higher Education Commission Executive Director Dr Mansoor Akbar Kundi on Saturday said that quality education coupled with strong academia-industry linkages is imperative to reduce poverty and raise the standards of life in the county. He was talking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He was flanked by HEC Quality Assurance Adviser Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Khan. Dr Mansoor Akbar Kundi said that that over 7,500 overseas scholarships had been offered for MS and PhD students till now. He said that HEC was taking revolutionary steps to promote the enabling environment for quality research. He said that all the universities in public and private sector have been informed to strictly follow quality criteria laid down by HEC. He said that researches should come up to solve the problems of the stakeholders. Dr Iftkhar said that competitive teaching environment at the universities was the best choice for bringing the best brains and create an atmosphere of competition in teaching and research. “The HEC is taking all possible steps to make it more strengthened at par with the international standards.” He said efforts were afoot to flourish the system by devising a concrete mechanism of faculty assessment and evaluation system. UAF Vice Chancellor said that UAF was the only university of the country ranked among top 100 universities of the globe in any category. He said that number of the students at the university has touched to 16,000 which was 11,000 a year ago. He said that the research portfolio of the varsity, UAF, has touched to Rs 2000 million by winning the comparative grants. The UAF is taking all measures to ensure the quality education at the campus. The outreach programme is ensuring the address the problems of stakeholders. Later on, they attended Syndicate meeting.
