UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan visits motor bike and cycles driving training for female students

As many as 250 female students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Tuesday got training about motor bike and cycles driving, aimed at making them self dependent about transportation. The training was organized in collaboration with Punjab Lok Sujag. Talking to the women motorists, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said the women face the difficulties transportation from classrooms to their fields. If we make them confident about driving, the problem can be eradicated. He said that the University was making all out efforts to provide cycles to the female students for their convenient transportation. He said that the women empowerment was imperative to the face the challenges of the modern world. Without the active participation of the women, no society can progress. He said that the women are proving their mettle in every sphere of life. He said that the women enrolment in the graduate programmes at the campus has touched to 50 percent. He said in the last half decade, the women teaching staff has increased manifold at the campus. Four year ago, only 40 women were teaching at the campus. Now, the number has touched to 140. He said that state-of-the-art Women Complex, Day Care centre are operating at the campus. Lok Sujag representative Qamar Mehdi said that his organization was operating for the last thirty year in order to uplift the agriculture sector and to address social issue. He said that women are dependent on others or moving on foot for transportation. The promotion of the cycle driving will help them to move comfortably. He said they had launched the project for the universities that will ultimately move to the society. Rizwan Safdar and Anum from Lok Sujag also spoke on the occasion.
