Handball Technical Course for Couches

The University of Agriculture will have a Shahbiz Sharif Sports Gymnasium for providing the modern facilities to the youth, said UAF Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He addressed the concluding session of the Handball Technical Course for Couches organized by Olympic Council of Asia and Pakistan Handball Federation at the UAF. MNA Haji Akram Ansari was the guest of the honour on the occasion. He also said that the Asian Handball Challenge Trophy will be held at UAF in October this year. The Vice Chancellor stressed upon the students to develop the sportsman spirit to prove their mettle in the chosen field. He said that the University organizes two international sports events every year including handball and international tent pegging “though the country has some image issues, but UAF management has broken the ice by holding two international sports events every year” he added. The University is mulling organizing tent pegging world cup at the campus this year. He said that with the provision of the proper sports facilities, the sports culture will be strengthened that will bring new talent before the public. He showed his concerns that sports activities among the youth was showing a declining trend because of changing life style and enhanced usage of modern technologies. He said that the country was having a lot of talents that must be explored. He said that sports maintain their health and increase their thinking ability. He said that the university was making all out efforts to provide the state-of-the-art facilities to the students. President Pakistan Handball Federation and Secretary Asian Handball Federation Haji Muhammad Shafiq said that more than 80 percent gold medalists belong to constituency of Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari and UAF. He said that all international events of handball have taken place at UAF and it would be another honor of it if we hold Asian Challenge Trophy in October this year.
