Workshop on “Students Leadership”

The MoU was duly inked by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and Engro Vice President Babur Sultan. According to the agreement, the Engro would provide Rs 5 million during three year for the research and development, scholarship and training programmes. National Institute of Food Science and Technology Director General Prof Dr Masood Sadiq Butt and other notables were also present on the occasion. She addressed a workshop titled “students leadership” chaired by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. The event was organised by Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization and Institute of Business Management Sciences (IBMS) at New Senate Hall. She stressed the need to hone the leadership qualities among the students so that the country can progress rapidly. She was of the view if we polish the skills of people by giving them opportunity, there is no doubt that we can compete with the rest of the world to cope with the different challenges. She said that the Islam is a religion of peace and provides equal rights to the women. She called for following the injections of Islam so that we can prove our mettle in every sphere of life. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said the UAF was taking all possible measures to develop the leadership qualities among the students particularly women. The students are the future builder. We are focusing on entrepreneurial skills among the students so that they can become self employed. The step would also help alleviate the poverty from the country. He said that the work on the Centre for Advanced Studies in Food Security at UAF was in the full swing that will help in increasing the agricultural production of the country. ORIC Director Prof Dr Asif said that half of the population of Pakistan consists of women. If we sharpen their skills that would prove hallmark for the country. Dr Akhar from USA said that the hunger is the areas of the concern across the globe. The skilled manpower is imperative to face the situation. Ayesha Saddiq from Institute of Rural Home Economics and others also spoke on occasion.
