The Institute of Business Administration Sukker and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Saturday inked a memorandum of understanding to jointly produce experts with a blend of business management and agriculture. The MoU was duly inked by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and Director IBA Sukker Prof Dr Nisar Ahmed Siddique. Former Agriculture secretary Arif Nadeem was also present on the occasion. The Vice Chancellor said a joint four-year BS programmes would be kicked off between the both institutes as feasibility is being carried out. The programme was aimed at providing management skills to agriculture graduates, he said, adding that a committee had been formed of four faculty members from each institution and representatives from industry for this purpose. The Vice Chancellor said that Pakistan is the blessed with the talented youth. If we polish their skills, the country can move to the new horizon of progress. He said that the University was making all-out efforts to provide the state-of-the-art facilities to the students. He was of the view that the technical graduates coming into the market were the strong on the technical side but weak on the communication skills. Therefore it is must to equip themselves with the confidence and modern speaking skills. Prof Dr Nisar Ahmed Siddique said that quality manpower was the guarantee of the bright future. We need to develop the manpower which can help the country fight the different challenges. He said that IBA was taking all tangible steps to impart the quality education. He said that 90 percent of the passed out students gets the job in private sector. Keeping in view, we had to prepare the students to prove their mettle in their chosen field. Former Agriculture Secretary Arif Nadeem said that the agriculture was the backbone of the our economy. He said that the country can increase the agricultural production by adopting the modern trends and practices. He was of the view that joint degree programme will pave the way in term of trained manpower to cater the need of the 21st century. He stressed upon the need to educate the farmers about the importance of the latest trends. The food security is the area of concern, he added.
