UK based Brooke Hospital for Animal and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad have joined hands to expedite services in animals’ treatment

UK based Brooke Hospital for Animal and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad have joined hands to expedite services in animals’ treatment especially equine ; mobile animal treatment units and capacity building programmes. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The MoU was duly inked by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and Brooke Pakistan Chief Executive Muhammad Farooq Malik. Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Dean Prof Dr Laeeq Lodhi and Director External Linkage Prof Dr Ashafaq Chattha were present on the occasion. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Kha, said state-of-the-art animals treatments are being provided at the UAF. He said the university was used to organize Horse and Cattle Show every year in order to promoting best breeds. Talking about the equine, he said the horses had served the masses in the form of source of transportation in peace and in the war. Talking about the diary animals, he said that although Pakistan was one of the largest milk producing country, but it was obtaining only 2,500 litre of milk per animal in annum compared to minimum 18,000 litre of milk per animal in developed nations. He said that the university was committed to providing quality education and solving the problems of the people especially farming community by conducting high level researches and imparting trainings to increase the productivity of the country. Muhammad Farooq Malik said that started functioning from a single mobile clinic in Peshawar in 1991, the Brooke Pakistan has expanded to deliver veterinary and welfare services to working equines through a network of mobile teams and static clinics in 26 districts. He said that we aim to improve the health and welfare of working equine animals and so help communities to have better lives by focusing on delivering high quality veterinary and welfare services. Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Dean Prof Dr. Laeeq Akbar Lodhi said we have outreach programmes with ambulatory clinics to some villages. He said that it also provided opportunity to the farming community to enhance people to people and experts contact.
