Cueist Muhammad Asif, who has won his second world title in World Snooker Championship 2019, visited the University of Agriculture and called on UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf at the meeting room of the varsity.

Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association Co-Chairman Alamgir A Shaik, UAF Director Sports Dr Muhammad Ashfaq, UAF Assistant Directors Ashiq-e-Rasool and Farooq Iqbal and others also attended the meeting. Dr Muhammad Ashraf said that Asif was the pride of the country as he proved his mettle across the globe without any resources, infrastructure and professional training. He added that the youth have to identify their inborn talent so that they can excel in their respective areas but also bring a good name for the country. He said that the university would conduct a snooker championship soon. He said that the university was used to hold sports activities in order to promote sports culture for a healthy society. He showed his concern that sports activities were on the decline that is the one of the cause of increasing ailment. Muhammad Asif said that snooker had given Pakistan so many international titles. He said that he had worked day and night to win the title for our homeland. He lauded the measures of the varsity to promote the sports activities. Alamgir A Shaik said that national federation was more focused who are producing good results. The winning of world title was a hallmark achievement. He appreciated the efforts of Muhammad Asif for winning the world championship. Dr Muhammad Ashfaq said that there is a need to develop the sportsman spirit in the youth so that they can meet the challenges in the life in an effective manners. He said that they country was blessed with the tremendous talent. He said that the university students in sports were not only making their name in the country but also at international level. Ashiq-e-Rasool said that a decade ago, playgrounds were flooded with the players in the morning and evening time but now, the trends is vanishing. He said that the university was making all-out efforts to promote the sports culture. Farooq Iqbal said that sports were prerequisite to promote the sports activities across the county. He said that sports were essential not only for the good health but also a sound mind.
