Research Workshop arranged by the Institute of Agri. and Resource Economics

Strengthened forecasting system in the agriculture is vital to fight the challenges of food insecurity and climate changes in order to increase productivity , said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He addressed the inaugural session of Research Workshop arranged by the Institute of Agri and Resource Economics, University of Agriculture Faisalabad at Video Conference Hall. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Iqbal Zafar, Agri Economics Director Prof Dr Muhammad Ashfaq, Prof Dr Sultan Ali Adil and Dr Muhammad Akram, Research Fellow, Monash University, Australia and others also spoke on the occasion. The Vice Chancellor said that the system provides an opportunity to researchers and policy makers to devise a comprehensive strategy to deal with the issues in the better way. He said that farm laboratories needs to be equipped with the innovative approaches. He was of the view that the Precision Agriculture was getting popularity across the world. We have to get the benefit from it, he added. He said that the world had become the global villages owing to the technological advancements. He advised the students to take advantage of it and make all-out efforts for getting the state-of-the-knowledge to meet the challenges of 21st Century. He said that University research portfolio had boosted up manifold as it is touching Rs 2 billion compared to Rs 400 million just four-year ago. Dean Prof Dr Iqbal Zafar said that Pakistan is blesses with tremendous natural resources. We need to tap the potential. He said that the modern technology had helped the people to perform their chores easily. Talking about research, he said statistical software system is helping the researches to analysis the data without any difficulties. Prof Dr Muhammad Ashfaq stressed the need to produce tangible researches keeping in view the challenges facing the society. He said that that they were taking possible steps to produce research work as per demand of the society. Dr Muhammad Akram informed the audience about R and S-Plus software to analysis the research data that will make their working easy. Prof Dr Sultan Ali Adil in his address highlighted the importance of statistics in the research and said that the workshop will help in capacity building of the participants.
