Orientation Seminar for the newly-admitted students

Quality education is an engine for the bright future. The solutions to all problems confronting the country are lying in trained human resources, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He addressed orientation seminar arranged by the Agrarian Society for the newly-admitted students for the first degree program at Iqbal Auditorium. The Vice Chancellor urged the students to take all our efforts in attaining the knowledge that will make future brighter. He added that the journey of getting knowledge continues throughout the life. The development can be achieved with the power of education. He assured the students of the full cooperation during their stay at the campus. He added that the UAF was the only university of the country which was standing among top 100 Universities of the Globe. He said the significance rise in the women enrollments is witnessed that is good sign. Keeping in view the increasing application for the various disciplines, the UAF is growing its enrollment capacity. He said that the country was blessed with natural resources and talented people. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Iqbal Zafar, Dean Faculty of Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Javaid, Chairman Plant Breeding Prof Dr Abdus Salam , Hall Warden Prof Dr Muhammad Amjad, Prof Dr Nazir Ahmad, and Prof Dr Sultan Mahmood were present on the stage. Prof Dr Abdus Salam urged the students to work hard in order to proving their mettle in their respected field. He said that the University is making all efforts to provide quality education and facilities to the students. Prof Dr Muhammad Amjad said that as many as 16,000 students are studying at the campus. The UAF has raised its hostel capacity for male and female students both to meet the demand of the increasing students. Directorate of Financial Assistance Director Brig (r) Javaid Anwar said that the comprehensive financial assistance programmes were running at the Campus to facilitate the talented and deserving students in the form of Punjab Education Endowment Fund, HEC Need Based Scholarship, Work Study Programme, Loans, fee concision, and mechanism for the students to work at Campus etc. Controller of Examination Shafqat Iqbal urged the students to show their dedication to attain education. He briefed the students about process of examination, grade mechanism and semester system. He said that state-of-the-art facilities were being provided to the students. Prof Dr Tahir Siddique said that under the office of Senior Tutor, clubs including Qirat Cub, Debating Club,n Writer Society, Art Club, Quiz club are functioning which are providing a platform to the students to exhibit their skills. Director Sports Muhammad Shafiq said the because of the technical advancement, the lack of interest of the youngsters in sports activities is being witnessed. He urged the students to ensure their participation at sports as UAF is providing modern facilities. Dr Aslam urged the students to develop the ideal character in order to emerge an ideal nation. Abdul Ghafoor said that the UAF library was having 2.5 million books. The library is the place which makes the students to excel.
