Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah addresses a function at UAF held in connection with entering 100 top universities of globe

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has become first university of the country which has entered in the list of top 100 world best universities and top 20 in Asia pacific in the Agricultural Sciences, according to the National Taiwan University world ranking 2013. In this regard, a function was held at the University Staff Club which was co-chaired by Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashhood and Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. Addressing on the occasion, Rana Mashhod Ahmad terming the achievement a hallmark congratulated the university staff and administration for opening up new chapter of the progress in the history of the country. He said that the government was making all out efforts for the promotion of the educational sector. He added that higher education commission at provincial level, Punjab, will be set up in a couple of months that will help in improving funding and quality education in the province. Rana Sanullah said that the government had devised a comprehensive mechanism of the Vice Chancellor Search Committee that are bringing best brains and leadership that is the force to explore new avenue of prosperity in the country. He said at the time, the universities are started proving their mettle by improving the education. He said that once, it was the dream that Pakistan universities would stands in top 100 world universities. The dream was fulfilled by the UAF by achieving the hallmarks. He said that agriculture is the backbone of our economy as more than 65 percent of the people are associated with the sector. He also assured of the Punjab Government full support to the university that will help in flourishing the sector. UAF Vice Chancellor prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said the university has jumped to 60 position in the NTS ranking in a year. He said last year we were at 158th in the world ranking with the score 14.96 but now we are at the 98th number with the score 55.2. Besides, the UAF was at the 33 number in the Asia Pacific and now it is at the 20 number in NTU rankling. It is also a recipient of best Science and Technology Institution Award announced by Islamic Development Bank among the 57 Islamic countries. He said that since its inception as the University in 1961, it has produced more than 54,000 graduates including 1,080 PhDs. The UAF is actively engaged in producing tangible researches which helped the country in bringing green revolution Currently, we are running Rs 2 billion external funded project. Principial Officer Public Relations and Publication Department Dr Jalal Arif said that during the last five years, the research and other educational activities have gained momentum manifold at the UAF, resulting in bringing the good name for the country. He said that the five year ago, no one can think that the UAF will stand in the world best universities ranking. But because of the dynamic leadership and tangible efforts made on the part of the all staff, the UAF is declared 98th best university of the country.
