Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Pakistan Dr Jong Hwan Song on Friday said Food and Rural Development is the more important, helping the nations alleviate hunger. He was talking to agriculture experts at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad after inaugurating the Agri Exhibition, which is the part of the four-day Rabi festival. He also said that first of all, we have to develop infrastructure, then we can move other things. Talking about education, he said the cooperation among educational institutes of both countries should be further enhanced, he said, adding that that the UAF’s signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Korean Institutes will bring the tangible results.. He hoped that mango exports to Korea will further increase. He congratulated the UAF for entering into the list of 100 best universities of the globe and jumping to 60 positions as it was 158 position world in the agricultural science and now, it has become 98th best university worldwide. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that it is the need of the hour to promote the modern agricultural practices such like precision agriculture in order to make our agricultural products cost effective. He said that PA helps the farmers ensure balanced usage of the different inputs such as fertilizers, water etc. He said the UAF is enjoying the good relations across the globe. Currently, the UAF is working on Rs 2 billion research projects, he added. In the agriculture exhibition, around 70 stalls have been installed at the Dee ground of the University in which tens of hundreds of locals and farmers visited. It remained the centre of attraction for the agricultural lovers. The exhibition is aimed at providing the information to the farming community regarding modern agricultural practices in order to transfer the knowledge into goods and services.
