Director WMRC, UAF Prof. Dr. Allah Bakhsh gives away certificate to the participants of space week celebrations

The Space Week celebrations organized by University of Agriculture Faisalabad in collaboration with SUPARCO on Sunday concluded. The week with the theme “ Exploring mars and discovering earth” was aimed at creating the awareness among the masses about importance of space sciences keeping in view needs of the modern world. At the event, different competitions were also organized among the students of different schools of the District. The concluded session was addressed by Water Management Research Centre Dr Allah Buksh, Director Student Affairs Prof Dr Muhammad Younas, Principal University’s Community College Dr Khail-ur-Rehman, and SUPARCO Manger Amir Bhatti. Office of Research Industrialization and Commercialization Director Dr Asif Ali, Laboratory High School for Boys Headmaster Saleem Mohsin and Headmistress Laboratory Girls High School Mrs Tasneem Zubai were present on the occasion. In the contest of Urdu declamation, Laboratory Girls School bagged the first position whereas Govt. Crescent Model School and laboratory High School for Boys stood second and third respectively. In the poster competition Lab Girls School stood first, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhawana Bazaar, second and Lab School, PARS got third position. In the English declamation, Laboratory Girls High School got first position whereas Educator School got second and Laboratory Boys School stood third and Govt MC Higher Secondary School got the fourth position. Addressing on the occasion, Prof Dr Allah Buksh said it is need to the hour to make the balanced use of our natural resources such as water etc to provide prosperous world to the coming generation. He said the University in collaboration with USAID is planning setting up remote sensing centre at the campus. Prof Dr Younas said that such events help the students to get the awareness about the space sciences which has gained the immense importance in the modern world. Prof Dr Khalil-ur-Rehman said the world has become the global village which is a result of technological advancement especially in space sciences. Amir Bhatti said that the next decade is the time of space sciences. He said that the SUPARCO is observing the Week in the different cities of the country to raise the awareness about space sciences.
