Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would lay the foundation stone of first ever 3.8 MW Solar Powered Electricity Generation Plant at University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. During his visit to UAF, he would also inaugurate the Solar Green Houses that would enable the University get green energy a step forward with the Government to fight energy crisis for economical crop production by minimizing farmers’ cost. The University is setting the plant in collaboration with Apollo Ampex Pvt Ltd to produce clean and pollution free solar energy of 3.8 MW running load. The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has taken some tangible steps including the launch of first degree programs of Energy System Engineering, Food Engineering, and Environmental Engineering aiming at producing a pool of professionals who would serve the growing sector and cope with the energy demands with alternative energy prospects. Renewable energy can move from its present status to become a truly global industry, with the collaboration between government and business to cut down the costs, earn carbon credit and to facilitate international trade. UAF is in the process of setting up new community service cum R&D projects like farmers market, cattle market and a civic club etc. Delegation from Austria, MNAs, MPAs, Member University Syndicate, District Administration, and others would attend the ceremony.
