University of Agriculture Faisalabad eventually made a statutory approval to offer various new degree programs aiming at meeting the emerging academic challenges and fulfilling the growing needs of the community. The approval was made during 273rd meeting of the University Academic Council on Monday afternoon. The marathon meeting with the UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan in the chair has given nod to launch a multidisciplinary PhD degree program in Ecology, and also agreed to offer PhD Physics program after making logistic arrangements. The house, after thread-bear discussion, made approval to offer new undergraduate programs by the nomenclature of BSc Energy System Engineering, and BSc Environmental Engineering under Faculty of Agri. Engineering & Technology, BS Bioinformatics, BS Computer Science, and BS (Information Technology) by Department of Computer Sciences, and BBA (Hons.) under Institute of Business Management Sciences. Besides, making approval to offer BSc (Hons.) Dairy Science Program under Faculty of Animal Husbandry, the house also accorded permission to launch a Pharmacy-D program by setting up new arrangements under a proposed Centre of Bio medical Sciences. The Academic Council after detailed deliberations, given statutory approval to offer MA English, MA Sociology, MA Economics, MSc Mathematics, and M.Ed. programs under Community College arrangements and a Associate Degree in Education by the Institute of Agri Extension & Rural Development. The Academic Council also approved to adopt the bio-safety protocol to avert any untoward situation. The house congratulated Prof. Dr. M. Javaid for winning cash award in recognition of his research work by Pakistan Science Foundation and appreciated the work done by Mr. Ahsan Raza Sattar for easing the Herculean tasks of online enrollment, and result submission that, he said would certainly make the job more easier and accurate. The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan while appreciating the faculty for earning a QS Ranking and putting the University and Pakistan in the limelight of the world education scene. He described the world ranking a great achievement and at the same time a challenge to not only sustain it but also make it better in the future. He said that under USAID and FAO arrangements, a massive investment of 100 million rupees is going to be made in setting up a dedicated Centre of Remote Sensing aiming at providing training to officials of crop reporting department of the Punjab Government. He said that during the last five years, the varsity doubled the degree programs and brought new majors and vigorously pursing the agenda of redoubling the programs.
