Glimpses of Spring Festival 2013

As the Spring Festival staged by University of Agriculture Faisalabad draws closer to its last day, tens of hundreds of locals turned up in droves to have a delight of the color of festivities. The event brought a rich blend of agricultural and cultural events including agricultural exhibition, fancy bird show, pet show, greyhound races, tent pegging, farmer convention, conferences, alumni meet and cultural show etc. on the direction of UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. The festival is meant to provide a platform to common persons and farming community to interact with social as well agricultural experts. It helps not only to motivate the farming community about using modern techniques but also transfer our rich culture in the young generation. Besides, it also becomes a place of entertainment to get refuge from their monotonous routine and showcase the skills of students in front of large gathering. The site of agri exhibition remained a source of attraction for the agriculture lovers who came here to witness the latest trends. As many as more than 80 stalls were set up at the exhibition from the UAF Departments and different renowned agricultural groups. At the bird show, more than 2,000 birds are displayed of 15 spices with more than 50 varieties in each species. Moreover, tent pegging and milk and beauty competitions are underway, forcing the people to throng and get enthralled. The festival will continue till March 31(today) evening. The programmes of March 31 (today) include Farmers Convention at 10:30 am at Iqbal Auditorium. Prize Distribution of Exhibition, flower show and fancy bird and pet show at 3:00 pm at D Ground and prize distribution of cattle show and tent pegging will be held in the evening.
