Punjab Agricultural Minister Ahmad Ali Aulakh and UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan perform groundbreaking of UAF's sub-campus Layyah

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has set up Forest, Range Management and Wildlife College in Layyah in order to foster the forest and wildlife knowledge among the dwellers at their doorstep. Punjab Agricultural Minister Ahmad Ali Aulakh along with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad on Thursday performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the sub-campus comprising 1,600 acre. The minister said it is first Forest College in Punjab and second in the country after the Forest College in Peshawar. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Punjab government is taking all out efforts for the promoting the quality education in province. Launch of Punjab Education Endowment Fund scholarship worth 10 billion , laptop scheme, distribution of solar lamps are the ample example of it. He said that the College will bring tangible results in enhancing the forest net, modern agricultural results and alleviating the poverty keeping in view the scope of the area. He praised the steps being taken on the part of UAF for ensuring the quality education at the campus and disseminating the modern agricultural practices among the farming community in the form of enhanced outreach practices. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that campus will cater the need of producing agricultural skilled manpower to increase the productivity of Layyah. It will also produce research as per requirement of the said area. He also said it is the need of the hour to provide an opportunity of quality education to the people keeping in view the scope of the area that will open up new pages of prosperity. The opening of sub campuses are helping the increase the productivity. He said trained manpower equipped with latest agricultural tools will open up new avenue of progress for the country. He thanked the Punjab Government for this project .
