UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan gives away a gift to visiting Indianan International Kabbadi Commentator Mr. Sughbir Singh Chohan after a dinner hosted in the honor of Kabbadi Team of Indian Punjab at UAF

Tent Pegging and Handball teams from Indian Punjab will visit University of Agriculture Faisalabad to participate in the Spring Festival in February this year. This was revealed by UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan in a dinner at Staff Club of the University hosted to honor the visiting Indian Kabbadi Team participating in the 2nd Commissioner Faisalabad Division International Gold Cup Kabbadi Tournament. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan said such kind of visits and sports activities provide opportunity to revive rich culture of the region adding that during the last few months Kabbadi matches between Indian and Pakistani Punjab and their media coverage grabbed an exclusive and overwhelming attention of the people that would bring them more closer to each other. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan said by travelling and meeting with people of both provinces, one can not feel himself stranger “only thing we feel during our visit to Indian Punjab was that girls were found riding bicycles and motorbikes that surprised us” he added. He said though there were 60 Agricultural Universities in India, 6 in Bangladesh and seven in Pakistan, but the prestige and respect which UAF had earned was exceptional. He lauded the role of Chief Minster Punjab Mian Shahaz Sharif and Commissioner Faisalabad Division Syed Tahir Hussain for promoting healthy sports activities and bringing the people of both Punjabs closer. He was of the view that Punjab Agricultural University Ludihana pleaded the case of their farmers with effect advocacy that result in provision of 8 hours free electricity for tube well subsidized DAP and Urea that played a pivotal role in overall agricultural development of the Indian Punjab. Addressing the participants, International Kabbadi commentator Mr. Sughbir Singh Chohan said though we are winning the matches but with love and care we received from Faisalabad our hearts have been won by locals. He acknowledged the role of UAF in subcontinent in upbringing and promoting the agriculture and making revolutions in the sector. Mr. Sughbir Singh Chohan felicitated the Pakistani Punjab for spawning good music in the region adding that Singers of Indian Punjab need to be trained by the singers of West Punjab. Tayyub Ali Shah Gilani, Dr. Muhammad Jalal Arif, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Maann, Syed Qamar Bukhari also spoke on the occasion. Later the VC Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan distributed mementos among the members of visiting Indian team and officials.
