Seminar for "Implementation of Islamic social welfare mechanism in the society" held at UAF

Speakers at a seminar called for implementation of Islamic social welfare mechanism in the society, so that the intensity of unrest among deprived segment of society could be minimized. The seminar on “The Concept of Social Welfare in the light of Qran and Hadis “ was organized by the Department of Islamic Studies, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad on Friday at Seminar Hall Department of Chemistry. Prof. Dr. Munir Ahmad sheikh, Dean Faculty of Sciences, while delivering his address as a chief guest said that it was a fundamental religious duty of rich and prosperous Muslims to help poor and needy in the society, until rich Muslims fulfill these religious duties, their faith and iman will remain incomplete and they will be accountable in the Day of Judgment for their failure to help the needy and poor in the society. He added that Islamic faiths and ideologies encourage rich Muslim to spend in charities. Supporting orphans, poor, widows, disables, elderly and mentally retarded people in the society is part and parcel of Islamic faith and tradition. Dr. Humayun abass , Chairman Department of Islamic Studies , GC University Faisalabad said that there was a logical and intricate relation between the notion of social responsibility and the true nature of our faith in the Day of Judgment . He was of the view that Quran very clearly reveal the inherent nature of close relationship between our social responsibilities towards orphans and poor . He maintained that Islamic faith in the Day of Judgement is not mere philosophical or mystical faith rather it was practical and viable faith. Dr. Shazia Ramzan Chairperson Islamic Studies department UAF said that though Islam encourages Muslims to share the wealth and money it does not do so in line with socialistic principles of Karl Marx. She added that Islamic principles of social responsibility and social justice system are totally different from that of Karl Marx socialistic theories. She maintained that rightly guided Caliphs were very much duty conscious and mindful on this issue of social responsibility towards poor and orphans.
