There is a paradox between the emphasis on quality as an important aim of internationalization on the one hand and the lack of systematic monitoring and evaluation of the quality impact on the other. In addition, we should realize that besides the quality improvement aim, internationalization of higher education may also have more or different aims which could not be ensured by introducing quality enhancement mechanism in accordance with international harmonized standards. This was stated by Prof. Dr. I qrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor , University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) while addressing the participants of Training Workshop on “Self- Assessment Report(SAR) writing” Organized by Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), UAF on Tuesday. Dr. Khan maintained that Internationalization of higher education is the need of hour as Pakistan has to progress in the direction towards excellence in education and research. He was of the view that economy of the Country is mainly link with agriculture and livestock sector that is why UAF has a leadership role in the development of society by providing innovative solutions for the problems of common man. He added that UAF is striving for the development of knowledge based economy and promotion of innovations as well as community building activities. Dr. Iqrar said that it is envisaged in medium term development framework that the access and quality of education and research has to be enhanced and making it relevant to the needs of the Country and society as well. Prof. Dr. Ahrar Khan, Director QEC in his welcome address said that we are focusing to promote quality standard in education and research keeping in view the demanding requirements of teaching staff for capacity building and capacity enhancement. He added that this workshop is a step towards enhancing our capacity for quality education. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, (Resource Person) lauded the efforts of QEC for organizing this workshop and hoped that this will lead University Faculty towards destination of highest International Standards existed at Global Level. Mr. Salman (Research Officer) conducted the inaugural session. A large number of Faculty members attended the workshop.
