UAF ASA holds rally in order to express solidarity with HEC and its Executive Director, Dr. Sohail H. Naqvi

University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Academic Staff Association (UAF ASA) took out rally in order to express solidarity with Higher Education Commission (HEC) deposed Executive Director, Dr. Sohail H. Naqvi outside Administration Block of UAF on Saturday. Protesters enchanted slogans in favor of autonomous status of HEC and demanded the restoration of CE Dr. Sohail Naqvi with immediate effect. Addressing the teachers and members of academic staff Prof. Dr. Munir Ahmad Sheikh, President UAF ASA urged the Government to avoid any intervention to disturb the autonomous structure of HEC Islamabad which has been striving for upgrading the Higher Education Sector of the country in harmonized manners with developed nations. Dr. Sheikh said that this un-timely decision of federal government will create panic among teaching and students community of the institutions of higher learning in the country. He maintained that federation of all Pakistan Academic Staff Association of universities of Pakistan has also expressed its concern over this un-pleasant situation and will launch a protest in 80 Public Sector Universities in case of their demand would not be fulfilled. Rally after having March through main corridor of new campus ended outside university Iqbal Auditorium. A large number of Academic Staff participated the protest. Protesters also demanded increased salary which has not been paid so for to UAF employees due to financial crunch being faced by HEC and Public Sector Universities.
