Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor UAF addresses the inaugural session of a 5-Day HEC workshop on “Imparting practical training in molecular and biochemical techniques” at New Senate Hall

A State of the Art Center for Biochemistry as well as Bio-Technology Chair would be established at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in order to promote coordinated and harmonized scientific approaches among researchers. This was stated by Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor UAF while addressing inaugural session of a 5-Day HEC workshop on “Imparting practical training in molecular and biochemical techniques” organized by Chemistry & Bio-Chemistry Department in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) at New Senate Hall on Tuesday. He was of the view that transformation is underway replacing teaching with learning in order to equip youth with latest innovative technologies being practiced in World Top educational institutions. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan emphasized on collaborative efforts of scientific community in the field of Bio-technology. He maintained that this is the only way to reap the crop of scientific innovations in befitting manners. Dr. Khan reiterated his commitment to introduce Online International learning mechanism as the part of curriculum with the combination of Video Conferencing. Keeping in view enabling students the best scientific resource for the Country. Dr. Munir Ahmad Sheikh, Dean Faculty of Sciences said that in this era of rapid development in science & Technology science as whole is sapping the old believes since many old theories are being replaced with sophisticated innovations. He added that the major drawback of our scientific system is the non availability of pertinent equipment and if available, personnel with proper training are not available. He said that due to above said constraints the machines lying in the laboratories wear out unused which is wastage of National resources. Prof. Dr. Amir Jameel, said that in order to cope with the base of advances in the field of science and technology, refresher courses are mandatory for the training of the newly engaged scientists and teachers. He added that UAF has become best resource center for conducting HEC workshops and conferences for imparting new innovative solutions. He told that 30 participants from various Higher Education Institutions from 4 provinces are participating in this workshop. He hoped that this 5-Day workshop would become a milestone in the field of molecular and biochemical techniques.
