UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan addresses the participants of closing ceremony of handball training course at UAF

Pakistan can reap the benefits and excel in sports by providing state of the art facilities and training to the school children not only in cricket but also in handball as the country has an enormous potential to lead the world in both games. Provision of handball courts and beach handball facilities at UAF will play an instrumental role in promotion of handball in the country, said UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing the participants of concluding ceremony of International Handball Federation, Handball at School Teaching Course here at New Senate Hall of the University on Saturday evening. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan said Youth Festival organized by Punjab Government encouraged the youth to come forward and remain in the playing grounds adding that such initiatives provides a platform to canalize the potential for betterment of the nations. He extended his full support for organizing sports competitions and related events at UAF as University has a unique and dedicated directorate of sports with state of the art facilities. He said, he visited Oman as manager of the National Handball Team to participate in the Asian Beach Handball Championship and the team stunned the sports lovers across Asia. An Expert of International Handball Federation Prof. Dr. Juan Anton participated the event as guest of honor and expressed his satisfaction over the sports facilities and passion among the youth about handball. He vowed that after holding of training at school level, this game will certainly get new talent to make further advancements in sports. Chairman Sports Board UAF Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Maann thanked the organizers and participating physical trainers from various schools, and urged the need to bring the youth in grounds. Director Sports UAF Haji Muhammad Shafiq congratulated the participants of training course and extended his support to conduct more training for the physical trainers of the schools adding that he has the vigor to see the country a long term champion of this game.
