World Egg Day

World Egg Day has been celebrated at University of Agriculture Faisalabad with a plenty of relevant events organized by Faculty of Veterinary Science and Faculty of Animal Husbandry with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan as Chief Guest of the occasion on Friday morning. To mark the event with more attraction, various colorful segments were arranged as an egg show comprises the eggs of Turkey, Peacock, Ostrich, Pigeon, Polish, Bantam, Duck, Java Sparrow, Dove and parrot was organized at Faculty of Animal Husbandry. Besides holding an exhibition of various egg dishes, an egg eating competition among the special kids from Day Care Centre also grabbed attention of the masses. Spoon Egg Race among girls and boys was the major event organized by Faculty of Veterinary Science coupled with various other interested segments of different games, and egg dishes. Expressing his views, UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan felicitated the organizers and participating students for holding such a colorful event. He said poultry is the 2nd big industry of the country after textile and taking the eggs and milk in the daily food, we can meet the challenges posed by Food Security adding that by promoting rural poultry, we can ensure the provision of required protein to the rural masses where the hunger and poverty largely exist. He described the events an impressive tool for creating awareness about the significance of eggs in the human health. He urged the organizers to educate the participants about the benefits of Eggs consumption, and to encourage the people overcome the malnutrition through egg nutrition. Chairman Dept. of Poultry Sciences, Dr. Sultan Mehmood said the world proclaimed the world egg day in 1996 and it is being celebrated on every 2nd Friday of the October. Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar (TI), Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof. Dr. Laeeq Akbar Lodhi, Director Institute of Soil & Environmental Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Chairman Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) Dr. Ghulam Mehboob, Haji Mukhtar, Dr. Rana Sajjad Arshad, Dr. Abdul Jabbar Abbasi and others were also present on the occasion.
