A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been inked between University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Remount, Veterinary and Farms Corps (RVFC)

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been inked between University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Remount, Veterinary and Farms Corps (RVFC) to collaborate in Equine Breeding, capacity building of RVFC staff and Students’ Internship at RVFC Farms. In a ceremony at local hotel UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (SI) and Director General RVFC Imtiaz Hussain Sherazi signed the accord. According to details of the MOU, both institutions will hold seminar regarding equine breeding and share the mutual expertise of artificial insemination, capacity building and internship of the UAF students at RVFC farms. UAF will offer short courses about equine breeding and send students at RVFC for internship. Expressing views about the MOU UAF VC said that horses are equally important in our lives and globally, a vast export potential is to be capitalized through equine breeding. He emphasized to promote best breeds of horses and adopt states-of-the-art practices in order to strengthen the human friendly animal breeds to earn money. He called for completing the registration of horses that was vital in the context of commercialization in international markets. We can also get the blood sample of the horses that can be used in research and maintaining the gene mapping of the animal, he said adding that that university had the pride to introduce first of its kind, DVM degree, in the country. He said that the university was committed to providing quality education and solving the problems of the people especially farming community by conducting high level researches and imparting trainings to increase the productivity of the country. Enlightening the participants about the equine significance in Army, Director General Imtiaz Hussain Sherazi said the horses helped transport the food and other things to the army officials working at the hilly areas where use of other means and helicopters are considered as an expensive exercise. He said that the horses had served the people for transportation in the time of peace and war.
