Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan inspects insect spray application during an Anti Larva day at UAF

University of Agriculture, Faisalabad observed “Eradication of Dengue Larvae Day” on Sunday with spraying anti-larvae insecticide at various spots all around the Campus on the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan Vice Chancellor supervised the campaign. Talking to the experts and workers from Department of Agricultural Entomology he emphasized to monitor all water halting points developed by current continuous rains and spray anti-larvae insecticides in order to minimize the threat of larvae development in this wet weather. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan urged the experts and Campus community to keep themselves alert to cope with any unpleasant situation. He said that they should regularly revisit the preventive steps taken at various identified spots at UAF Campus for the eradication of dengue. Prof. Dr. Anjum Sohail, Chairman Department of Agricultural Entomology briefed the Vice Chancellor regarding surveillance and awareness campaigns in order to eradicate the emerging threat of larvae development in Faisalabad District. He told that a massive anti-larvae spray move has been initiated to keep the UAF Campus free from Dengue hazards. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jalal Arif, Principal Officer Public Relations & Publications also told the Vice Chancellor that he has been assigned the responsibilities of creating awareness regarding dengue at divisional level and he was pursuing with zeal and enthusiasm to raise the level of mass awareness. Workers from Entomology Department remained busy to spray various water gathering points all around the Campus.
