Higher Education Commission (HEC) will provide opportunity to University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) to establish its Rose Extraction Plant in Islamabad to attract the other Universities and Research Institutions of the Country in order to promote entrepreneurial Culture for the benefit of farming and business community. This was stated by Nasir Ali Khan, Member Operations & Planning HEC Islamabad while calling on UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan in his Chamber on Saturday. Nasir Ali Khan said that we have to switch over our traditional farming pattern to high value crops so that the fruit of financial benefits could be transferred directly towards rural communities. He lauded the standards of research and innovations at UAF and termed it role model for other research and development institutions of the Country. Expressing his concern over financial crunch, he said that 10366 scholars who are pursuing their studies abroad with the financial assistance of HEC are suffering badly. He maintained that no foreign scholarship has been awarded to any scholar since March 2012 which of course is creating dismay among students community. Mr. Khan said that resources allocated for the public Universities are being decreased day by day as 11 new Universities have started functioning and obtaining resources from available funding for Higher Education which is already insufficient for the purpose. Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, VC UAF said that we are housing more than 6,000 students in our hostels as country’s biggest boarder institution and suffering from shortage of funds from HEC badly. He said that we are the only institution in the Country which is admitting students from deprived and far flung areas on statically merit and working for poverty alleviation since 100 years. Dr. Khan added that various innovative and demand oriented research solutions are being developed through Business Incubation Centre, (BIC) of the University for promoting entrepreneurship in the field of agriculture and Livestock. Earlier Nasir Ali Khan visited various Research laboratories and Projects being run by University Scientists with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jalal Arif, (Principal Officer Public Relations & Publications PRP) and got briefing regarding various innovative solutions developed at the Campus by University Scientists.
