Meeting between delegations from Unizwa University of Oman led by Dr. Ahmad Sulaiman Al-Hassari and UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan

Pakistan and Oman can get benefits by augmenting the educational and research ties of making various products from medicinal plants, roses, fresh flowers as both countries have the potential to grab the global market of developing post-harvest technology for indigenous plants, flowers and perfumes. This assertion was made during a meeting between delegations from Unizwa University of Oman led by Dr. Ahmad Sulaiman Al-Hassari and UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan here at his chamber on Tuesday morning. During the meeting, Omani visitor Dr. Ahmad Sulaiman Al-Hassari told Oman Research Council is very eager to get international collaborations with the other countries in general and with Pakistani Institutions in particular. He urged that both countries should open new windows of cooperation to mutually exchange students and faculty and further enhance the brotherly relations in S&T thereby to meet the global challenges. Dr. Ahmad lauded the UAF achievements and hoped to get benefit from the experiences of the UAF scientists in PhD and Postdoc studies. Earlier, briefing the Omani guests, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan said his university is vigorously pursuing the agenda of internationalization adding that they made concrete bridges with German, Australian, Indonesia, Turkish institutions for faculty development, students/teachers exchanges program and postgraduate scholarships. Dr. Iqrar A Khan apprised the visiting delegation that his office is striving hard to have Sultan Qabous Chair at UAF which would further open new chapters of success. He was of the view that geographic identity and position of the Oman invites researchers and historians to deeply explore the country as the providence has endowed Oman with unique medicinal plants which could be extracted for making medicines of various diseases. He revealed that UAF scientists are busy in numerous research projects at Oman for more than a decade. Later, the delegation paid a visit to Institute of Horticultural Sciences, Soil & Environmental Sciences, CABB, Titech Lab.
