The University of Agriculture Faisalabad took out a healthy walk from Admin Block to Polo ground and back to Admin block and arranged a seminar meant to create awareness among the different segment of the society regarding healthy lifestyle.

The event was arranged by Agri Tourism Club UAF. Chairing the session, Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa said that changing lifestyles, junk food and lack of physical activity were causing obesity. This could be the root cause of many diseases, including diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. He said plenty of food, high caloric intake, dependence on impure and processed foods, a sedentary life style, environmental factors and pollutants were posing serious threat to the people. He said that a lack of awareness, changing lifestyle issues were deepening malnutrition crisis at national level. He called for food fortification and develop the habit of walkout to address the issue of malnutrition. Registrar/ Treasurer Umar Saeed Qadri said that physical activities are declining in the society that were provoking increasing ailment among the people. He said that a workout was vital to stay fit. A healthy body is vital for a sound mind. He called for developing the habit of walk at least 30 minutes a day to safeguard yourself from different diseases. Dr Shahzad A Basra urged the people to eat half, walk double and laugh triple in order to lead a healthy lifestyle. He workout increases your overall ability to focus. He added that the campaign of walk for life which is kicked off from UAF will be stretched across the country. He urged the people to make walk a routine for a better life. Senior Tutor Athar Javaid said effective measures were needed to educate the people about healthy diet and way of life. He said that they were making all-out efforts to create awareness about health and malnutrition issue. Deputy Registrar Syed Qamar-ud-Din Bukhari said if we dig out the root cause of increasing ailment such as heart disease, diabetics and others, it is due to lack of physical activities and bad lifestyle. He added that we have to sensitize the people about the benefit of healthy lifestyle. Dr Tariq Tanveer from Qadir Buksh Farm said that they had organized multiple events to promote the agri tourism in the country.
