UAF in collaboration with Pak Organization of National Actuation (POONA) will hold a training session in 20 schools of tehsil Tandlianwala during the ongoing summer vacations

University of Agriculture Faisalabad in collaboration with Pak Organization of National Actuation (POONA) will hold a training session in 20 schools of tehsil Tandlianwala during the ongoing summer vacations aiming at equipping the school children with latest horticultural techniques and make them fully trained and eager to grow their own vegetables, sapling new trees, and maintain their gardens by using their skills and experiences. It was decided in a meeting of Chairperson of POONA Ms Surriya Naseem with Director Institute of Horticultural Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad Aulakh at his chamber on Thursday morning. It was decided that POONA will come up with more initiatives for promotion of horticultural activities across the province. Ms Surriya Naseem emphasized the need to educate the rural masses in general and the youth in particular to grow high value nontraditional crops which can enhance grower’s income. She was of the view that Pakistan needs to be a part of the global floricultural trade as it has immense potential to grab the growing opportunity. Ms Surriya Naseem visited Landscape studio, citrus nursery, Rosa centefolia orchards, and essential oil extraction project. She also held meetings with Director Water Management Research Centre Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad and Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof. Dr. Laeeque Akbar Lodhi and discussed water, clinical medicine & surgery, anatomy, parasitology, Foot and Mouth disease and veterinary gynecological issues. She expressed her willingness to work with scientists of the university raise the farm income as well as making tangible efforts to alleviate poverty in the rural areas.
