China Mobile Company Zong will establish Virtual Agricultural Information Centre in collaboration with University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in order to provide two- way communication facility to the farming community for transfer of technology. This was stated by Mr. Fan Yunjun Chairman & CEO of the company while calling on Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor in his chamber here on Sunday Morning. Mr. Yunjun added that Zong was promoting information technology among the masses of Pakistan for providing them state of the art communication facilities at affordable prices. He said that Rural population of Pakistan was their ultimate target so that they could be connected with Urban population through technological advancements. Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan emphasized that latest agricultural innovations & technologies should be transferred at the door step of deprived farming community. In this regard University had decided to organize agricultural Festivals at various spots of all Districts of the Punjab province. He added that UAF had set up call centers with the help of Government of Punjab in order to provide various solutions of the problems of farming community through e-mails. He hoped that proposed Virtual Agricultural Information Centers could bring another green revolution keeping in view ensuring food security of the country. It was decided that both organizations would signed an (MOU) memorandum of understanding for the implementation of proposed information centers. Zong will also provide incentive packages to students, Faculty and Campus Community for providing them modern cellular services. Safdar (RM Corporate Faisalabad), Faheem Mumtaz (Deputy Director S&D), Gu bin (Manager Marketing), Yuan Wei Dong (Dy. Director P&I), Muhammad Rizwan Khan (Sr. Manager O&M), Adeel Akhlaq (Manager Internal Audit), Wang Yi Zhou (Dy. Director CAD) and Farooq Hameed (Regional Manager Admin) attended the meeting while Brig. (Rtd.) Javed Anwar, Director Development, Mr. Muhammad Ashfaq (Manager Counseling Center) were also present on the occasion.
