UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar A Khan inaugurates the exhibition of Inst. of Rural Home Economics

Escalating female enrollment in the University of Agriculture Faisalabad coupled with thousands of campus residents provides an enormous business opportunity to young entrepreneurers to start their new ventures of boutiques, beauty parlor, embroidery, family functions, catering and foods to the students of home economics. Said by Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan Vice Chancellorwhile addressing the stakeholder workshop on creative ventures;an intervention between creativity and technology. The workshop was organized by Institute of Rural Home Economics, largely attended by female students, staff members and families of the University. He described the exhibition as an ever-attractive event of the Institute and urged the organizers to make arrangements for holding the same at Faisalabad Arts Council as well as at Pakistan National Council of Arts, Islamabad as the international diplomats were very eager to witness such type of exhibitions which depict the cultural values of the country. He said that Home Economics was the initial proposed faculty of the university in sixties but even after 50 years, the dream could not come true due to various reasons. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan expressed his hope that with beautiful blend of BSc (Hons.) Human Nutrition & Dietetics and four programs of Home Economics, the students would touch to thousands. He said that existence of National Institute of Food Science & Technology and Dept. of Fibre and Textile Technology distinguishes the Institute of Rural Home Economics from the other institution of the same discipline throughout the province. The stakeholder workshop of Home Economics on creative ventures was an intervention between creativity and technology comprised on art & craft exhibition, clothing and textile, dietary consultation camp and personality assessment. Later the Vice Chancellor inspected various stalls and inaugurated the new building of the institute. Director General National Institute of Food Science & Technology Prof. Dr. Faqir Muhammad Anjum and Incharge of the Institute Dr. Ayesha Siddique also spoke on the occasion. Earlier the Vice Chancellor inaugurated the exhibition and also unveiled the plaque of new building for the Institute.
