29th midcareer delegation of National Institute of Management Karachi visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and called on Registrar/ Treasurer Umar Saeed Qadri, Director Research Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir and deans and directors at Syndicate Room.

The delegation was led by NIM Additional Director Shagufta Waris. Giving briefing, Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir said the varsity had emerged the largest research university which is running projects worth 2.44 billion rupees and addressing various aspects of agriculture and economic issues. He said that varsity was striving hard to inculcate the youth with entrepreneurial skills enabling them to start their own business and create more jobs for other people. He told the participants that out of top 10 productive scientists of the country, four were from UAF. He said that UAF scientists are vigorously reaching out at the doorstop of the farmers to educate them about the modern practices. He said that establishment of epidemic center was on the cards in order to fight the emerging threats to the agriculture sector such as locusts, and dengue. UAF Registrar/ Treasurer Umar Saeed said that the UAF was offering 172 degree programs and has produced graduates more than one lakh who are performing their duties in the different fields. He said that the University is the mother of the all agricultural and veterinary educational institutions of sub-continent. He said that the focal person for the research on corona virus at national level is from our university. Shagufta Waris lauded the measures being taken on the part of the university to produce the skilled manpower, research and uplift of the agricultural sector. She said that the agriculture is the backbone of the country which is contributing 19 percent to the Gross Domestic Product.
