The Laptop distribution ceremony presided over by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan

As many as 1,100 graduating students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Thursday got laptops on merit under Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme in the second round (Phase 1) of the distribution. The distribution ceremony was presided over by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while MPA Rana Afzal, Dr Najma Afzal, senior Vice President, PML-N Punjab, Rana Munawar Director Colleges and Director University Development Brig (r) Javaid Anwar were guests of the honour on the occasion. MPA Rana Afzal said that Punjab government was providing are one lakh laptops to the students in order to get the knowledge that was prerequisite for the development. He said that Punjab government had distributed laptops among the almost 6000 students of the UAF worth Rupees 260 million . He told the audience that to provide the facility to the talented students hailing form low income class, the provincial government had set up the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund four years with Rs 2 billion and now it is providing the scholarships worth 10 billion to the 40,000 students to study across the globe based on merit. He said that under the Punjab Educational Foundation, the government had provided resources for 1.4 million students. The vice chancellor also lauded the Punjab government for taking tangible initiatives for the educational sector as, he said, the government had provided 300 foreign scholarships to the UAF that was a hallmark He said that the Punjab Government has spent Rs 350 million for the development of the university during the span of four years. He said that it was the era of information technology that had made the globe world. Keeping in view, we have to the get benefit to get knowledge by using the machine as now, books and knowledge ranging from arts to science, history to mathematics, literature to computer, are only one click away from the people. He said that university was working on providing wifi facility to the students across the campus in order to facilitate them.
