Kenan Uysal, Acting Program Coordinator, TIKA, and UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan meet at VC Chamber

Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) and University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Sunday joined hands to uplift the livestock sector in Faisalabad district in order to alleviate poverty and uplift rural life. They inked a memorandum of understanding duly singed by Mr. Kenan Uysal, Acting Program Coordinator, TIKA, and UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. The Turkish delegation is on a 10-day visit to University of Agriculture Faisalabad. On Sunday, the delegation called on UAF Vice Chancellor at VC Chamber followed by attending Deans and Director Meeting presided at Syndicate Room. The Turkish delegation was headed by Mr. Kenan Uysa, Acting Program Coordinator, Turkish Embassy Islamabad who was flanked by Mr. Aziz Ozturk and Mr. Halil Erol from Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) and Mahmood Saeed, Programme officer, TIKA, Islamabad. Mr. Kenan Uysal said for the promotion of modern goat breeding system, they are providing five beetal goats to each 48 selected families in the district. He said Pakistan and Turkey are enjoying good and brotherly relations that should be more strengthened in the form of the academic exchange programmes, capacity building and researches in order to cope with the common challenges. Mr. Kenan Uysal said that both countries had been enjoining long lasting ties and stood with each at hard time. The relations can be termed as “one nation and two countries”, he added. He said that winning of the Islamic Development Bank’s Science and Technology Award by the UAF among 56 countries was a hallmark that would be written in golden words. He said that being brothers, Turkish considered the award as their victory. He assured of their full cooperation to the university and country in every field in order to strengthen the educational and agricultural sectors. He praised the hospitality shown by Pakistani and UAF upon them. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while briefing the delegation about the university said that being the oldest agricultural educational institute, the UAF was mother of the all agricultural universities in eh sub-continent. He said that according to Higher Education Commission, the UAF was best university across the country in the category of Q&S with 75 score. He also said that the campus community is running 214 research projects worth 1600 million.
