PEMRA Chairman Abdul Jabbar gives license of FM Radio to UAF

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad is launching its own FM radio soon, another step towards providing information, guideline about agricultural issues and their solutions and entertainment to the locals. In this regard, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority granted a licence of FM 100.4 to the University of Agriculture Faisalabad at the ceremony held at PEMRA headquarter. Prof Dr Tanvir Ali from Institute of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development on the behalf of UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan received the license from PEMRA Chairman Abdul Jabbar . PEMRA Assistant General Manager Muhammad Iqbal was also present on the occasion. At a meeting held at the campus to discuss scope and function of FM radio, Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the radio will help the transfer the modern knowledge into goods and services by giving awareness to the locals. He said that radio will also provide a platform to the students about polishing and exhibiting their skills regarding agricultural journalism and will help ensure the food security in the country. He said that according to the mandate of PEMRA, the FM will work for educating, creating awareness and giving entertainment to the people residing in the city and its outskirts areas . He said that the university was also working on cyber extension to provide experts opinion to the people to the people of Pakistan and call centres in the 36 districts of the Punjab had been set up providing information about the balanced use of fertilizer keeping in view enhanced productivity.
