UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan presents shield to 8th class examinations topper, Zara Saleem, in the district conducted by Punjab Examination Commission

Annual function and prize distribution of University of Agriculture Faisalabad run Laboratory Girls High School on Saturday was held at Iqbal Auditorium, in which students presented colorful skits, giving a message of patriotism and hardworking to excel in every field of life. The session was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan as chief guest while Prof Dr Tanvir Ali from Institute of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development was also guest of honour on the occasion. The Vice Chancellor gave away the shield and certificate to position holders including LGHS student Zara Saleem who topped Faisalabad District Class 8 examination conducted by Punjab Examination Commission by securing 745 marks out of 800. Another student of the school Maryam Masood got the second position in all girls across the district by getting 731 marks out of 800. The Vice Chancellor also announced a cash prize of Rs 5,000 for the topper, Rs 3000 for second position holder and Rs 2000 for each outstanding standing student from his own pockets. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan congratulated the students and university administration for outshining in the exams. He said that the women comprised 52 percent of the society that must be given equal opportunities to get the education and play their pivotal role in the society. He hoped the school will continue working with the same spirits to excel the inner abilities of the students. He said that sustainability in the good performance must be ensured. He said that the University was committed to produce the good students and skilled manpower keeping in view the demands of the society. Prof Dr Tanvir Ahmad Khan said that the UAF management interventions played a significant role in setting this millstone. He said the intervention included training of teachers, summer schools, evening camps and others. He said that quality education was prerequisite for the development of any country and with the increase in literacy rate, Pakistan can fight the all challenges. School headmistress Tasneem Zubair said 137 students appeared in the examination of 8 class 2012 out of which 125 students got the A+ and A grade and remaining got the first division. She said under the Chief Minster different competitions, the school has clinched various positions, speaking the volume of students’ talent.
