UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad addresses inaugural session of Scouts Annual Function

Annual function of Agrivarsity Scout Group on Wednesday was held at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, in which scouts exhibited their skills in coping with the different situation like calamities etc. The inaugural session of the function was held at New Senate Hall that was presided over by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad. Provincial Secretary Punjab Boys Scout Association Tariq Quresshi, Faculty of Animal Husbandry Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar and Agrivarsity Scout Group President Ahmad Sattar were also present on the occasion. In the ceremony, Best Rover Scout Award for 2011-12 was given to Mr Amir Bukhtawar for his valuable services for the field. Addressing the audience, the Vice Chancellor said that scouts were setting the examples to follow for the others in order to serve humanity and spread the message of brotherhood in the society. He said that the University was committed to serve the nation in the form of trained manpower, valuable researches and outreach programmes. He said the UAF always stood with the nation at the time of natural disasters like floods and earthquake and played its due role in fighting the challenges. He said that the university had also set up a group of women scouts serving the females comprising 52 percent of the total population. Tariq Quresshi said that scouts of the UAF were the best one in the province working for the last 41 years. He showed his commitment to take the all-out efforts for the betterment of the society. He said that his association had sent 47 scouts on Hujj on the district quota and UAF is the only beneficiary of it. Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar praised the scouts for playing their due role in their field. He also urged them to leave stone unturned to come up to the expectation of the society for the development of the country. He said that the university was determined to produce skilled manpower and had produced 50,000 trained manpower so far.
