University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa has stressed upon youth and staff members to polish their technical skills in order to meet the needs of modern era.

He addressed at the concluding session of weeklong hand-on trainings about latest tools for PhD scholar and technical staff at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The training arranged by Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization was held at the New Senate Hall. He said that declining research quality is a hindrance to fight the challenge of modern era and bring development and prosperity. He said that in China, every lab of universities was coming up with new products, and patents. But unluckily, we are lagging far behind in field of research, and products etc. He said we have to produce the skilled technicians and manpower. He added that it is the power of mind that an idea can change the world. He urged the students to think out-of-the-box and develop products to move towards knowledge based economy. He said that it is also need of hour to produce skilled technicians, field assistants etc. He added that the country was blessed with tremendous talents. By honing the skills of the people we can compete with the rest of the world. Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr Muhammad Asghar Bajwa said that skilled manpower was the guarantee of a bright future. He said that all- out efforts were being made to ensure academic activities on modern lines. ORIC Director Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir said that the university research portfolio is touching to Rs 2.5 billion. He said that quality research and development work especially for the agriculture, livestock and rural development sector was being carried out .
