The research quality, despite enhanced facilities coupled with IT support, is declining with passage of time in the country which is one of the hurdle to fight the challenge of modern era and bring development and prosperity, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa.

He addressed the inaugural session of one-day workshop on effective management tools arranged by Directorate of Academics, UAF. As many as 90 PhD scholars took part in training session. Director Academics Dr Yasir Jamil , trainer Dr Shakeel Ahmad and Quality Enhancement Cell Director Dr Amir Jamil and others also spoke on the occasion. Addressing the participating faculty members, the Vice Chancellor said that you are the people who can transform the society by bringing innovative ideas, products and promoting the culture of truths, hardworking and honesty in the society. He said that in China, every lab of universities was coming up with new products, and patents. But unluckily, we are lagging far behind in field of research, and products etc. He added that it is the power of mind that an idea can change the world. He stressed upon the need to think out-of-the-box and develop products to move towards knowledge based economy. He said that it is also need of the hour to produce skilled technicians, field assistants etc. He added that the country was blessed with the tremendous talents. By honing the skills of the people we can compete with the rest of the world. He asked the faculty members to speak their minds in faculty boards and board of studies to addressed the professional issues so that the same could be addressed at grass root level. He vowed to transform the student allotments to the supervisory committees, and said that he wanted to empower the students chose their supervisors after holding meeting with them that would, he hoped, encourage intra-group competition among the faculty members. Dr Yasir Jamil said that all out efforts were being made to ensure academic activities on modern lines. He said that the quality education was the guarantee of a bright future. Director QEC Dr. Amir Jamil described the workshop timely and important to ensure quality research. He said that literature cited is very important work in the research, so this training, would enable a researcher narrate the literature accordingly. Resource Person Dr Shakeel Ahmad gave training to the participants.
