The poetry, thoughts and philosophy of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Poet of the East, must be inculcated among the different segment of society especially youths as a guidance to cope with challenges faced the Muslim Ummah, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa.

He was talking to the Deans and Directors at a meeting at his chamber. The Vice Chancellor stressed upon the youth to follow the doctrine of Khudi (self-reliance) in their lives. He urged them to create their own world if they were alive. He said that Dr Iqbal’s philosophy has always been about exploring oneself. He said the Poet of the East was the spiritual as well as intellectual founder of our homeland. Being a poet, educationist philosopher, political activist and reformer, he is unmatched in his service and versatility of knowledge and vision. He quoted the Allama Iqbal’s address at Allahabad in 1930 , in which Iqbal said “One lesson I have learnt from history of Muslims. In critical times in their history it is Islam that has saved Muslims and not vice-versa. If today you focus your vision on Islam and seek inspiration from the ever-vitalising idea embodied in it, you will be only reassembling your scattered forces, regaining your lost integrity, and thereby saving yourself from total destruction. He urged the youth to groom themselves to become leaders by reinvigorating the spirit of Iqbal’s teachings and to address social, economics, and justice issues. Allama Iqbal poetry presented the model of socio-economic system, values and beliefs based upon the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, he said, adding that his poetry and philosopher made the people of the East realized the richness of cultures and grandeur of Islamic civilizations. He added that according to Iqbal, it was need of the hour to get modern knowledge to compete the world to compete with the rest of the world . He viewed passion of Iqbal for independence and a separate Muslim State was deeply rooted. He said that that Iqbal’s revolutionary enthusiast poetry helped people to see beyond the normal range.
