The University of Agriculture Faisalabad scientists have written a first ever-book in country on reproductive health of camels titled “Reproductive Physiology and Health Management in Camel” based on their research work.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad scientists have written a first ever-book in country on reproductive health of camels titled “Reproductive Physiology and Health Management in Camel” based on their research work. The book was written by Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi and co-authored by Dr Nazir Ahmad in collaboration with Muhammad Na’af Qasim from UAE. Nine-chapter book shed light on reproductive health and different diseases relating to the reproductive health of camel. The book has gained immense popularity among students, breeders, camel farmers and experts of veterinary sciences. The team worked for years in the UAE on the camel and come up with solid research work. Dr Zafar Iqbal said that the country was having one million camels especially in the area of Thar, Cholistan, Bahawalpur, and Balochistan. He said that camels are found in the West Asia, South Africa, subcontinent, America and others. He said that in the best environment, per camel milk production can be jacked up from 12 to 20 liters. He said the camel milk is full of nutrition and best for liver and sugar patients. He said it has high content of protein with protective and antimicrobial properties. He added that the important camel milk health benefits include its ability to improve immune system, prevent diabetes, stimulate circulation, lessen allergic reactions, promote growth and development, and improve the heart health etc.
