Cornell University USA and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad will further strengthen their academia and research ties especially in the area of food sciences.

Cornell University USA and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad will further strengthen their academia and research ties especially in the area of food sciences. It was discussed at a meeting of Dr Syed S.H Rizvi from Department of Food Sciences University of Cornell USA with UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar at VC Chamber. UAF Dean Food Sciences Dr Masood Sadiq Butt, Director General National Institute of Food Science and Technology Dr Tahir Zahoor , Treasurer Tariq Saeed and Dr Kamran Shakeel also attended the meeting. They also reviewed the ongoing degree programs of food sciences and future collaboration. Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that more than 50 percent of the population in the country was facing malnutrition. In this scenario, the food sciences has gained immense importance. He said that malnutrition issue was worsening due to changing life style so that there is a need to create about balanced usage of food. He called for food fortification to address the issue of malnutrition and food insecurity. He said that simplicity and traditional food habits would help improve the situation Dr Syed S.H Rizvi said that the enhanced collaboration would help address the challenges of the malnutrition and to get benefit from the each other exopierences. He said that academic and research ties would bring the tangible results. Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that there is a need for create the entrepreneurial skills in the students so that they would become a job provider rather than job seekers. He stressed upon the need to create awareness about balances usage of diet and to adopt the physical activities in their daily lives. Dr Tahir Zahoor said that effective measures are needed to educate the people about the healthy way of life.
