The University of Agriculture Faisalabad opened sixth Lyallpur Art and Literature Festival on Monday that remained a source of attraction for literature lovers.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad opened sixth Lyallpur Art and Literature Festival on Monday that remained a source of attraction for literature lovers. The event, which will continue till April 6, is organized under the banner of Senior Tutor Office, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar along with Senior Tutor Dr Athar Javed and Associate Senior Tutor Dr Tahir Siddique, Dr Anwar-ul-Haq inaugurated the festival. As many as 25 educational institutions are taking part here. The festival featured different events including Qirat and Naat and Essay Competition, bilingual declamation, essay competition, Bait Bazi contest, Model United Nations (MUN), folk songs, drama and documentary contests and Photography contest, essay competition, web designing, speed programming, and mushaira, Bait Bazi, Mobile App development, and script writing. The fest first day witnessed Qiraat and Naat contests. In the Qiraat competitions, Huzafa from Punjab University stood first, whereas Muhammad Ahmad from Al-Qadeer College Sargodha and Tayiba Batool from GC Women University Faisalabad got the second and third position respectively. In the Naat competition, Ali Behzad from Punjab University Lahore clinched the first position while Tayiba Batool from GC Women University Faisalabad and Muhammad Saif from Quaid-e-Azam College Sahiwal got second and third positions respectively. UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that the nations are known for the culture and literature. We are blessed with rich language, culture and traditions that need to be saved for coming generation. He stressed upon the youth to make literature as part of reading whatever they are studying either science, business or any others. He said that literature is a reflection of creative inner self. He said aesthetics sense leads oneself for creativity that open up new avenues of thinking. Literature has no boundary and it has impressed the people living in the four corners of the world. It has occurred revolutions that helped the nations to address their issues and make development and prosperity. Senior Tutor Dr Athar Javed said that festival is meant to provide a platform to the students to refurbish their God-given abilities. He said that the country was blessed with the tremendous talent that needs to be tapped. He said that such events are essential to promote the literacy activities in the country. On April 3, Essay competition, Web Designing, Speed Programming , Bilingual Declamation, and Mushaira and Bait Bazi would be held. On April 4, Quiz Competition, Model United Nations, Mobile App development, and script writing would be held. On April 5, singing, photography, painting, folk dance, drama competition, and short film will be arranged. On April 6, drama contest, short film, photography and Model united nations will be held.
