The quality education, skilled manpower and demand-driven research are prerequisite to cope with the challenges of modern world and to alleviate poverty, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa.

Addressing the deans and directors, he directed the meeting to take all possible measures to ensure quality education and tangible research keeping the problems of farming community, society, industry and others stakeholders in view. He added that we have to take the measures to produce the skilled manpower that is a guarantee of the poverty alleviation. He said that the country was facing the tremendous challenges in term of unemployment, low productivity, decreasing resources and others. He said that the government was making the serious efforts to address the issues at the national level. He viewed that the country was achieved the great sacrifices. Now, it is our duty to move it to new horizons of the development and prosperity. He said that increasing students–teachers ratio was one of main hurdles to ensure quality education. He added that the university was mulling a comprehensive strategy to decrease the ratio so that skilled manpower production could be ensured. He said that we have to become the self-accountable and to perform their duties honesty, and dedication.
