Newly inducted faculty colloquium for capacity sharing with collegues and UAF Management

FAISALABAD September 24 2022: The agricultural scientists should make concrete efforts, and develop tangible solutions to revamp the agriculture sector amid the situation of devastation of heavy floods in the country. University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said this online while talking to a colloquium for new inducted faculty for the capacity sharing with colleagues and UAF management. He said that the strong research work is a way forward to address the different challenges facing the country. He also urged the banking sector to increase the loan funding for the agriculture sector. He said the farming community was eyeing on the UAF in the difficult time for the rehabilitation of the agriculture sector. He said that the devastating flood catastrophe this year had wreaked havoc not only the lives of the people but also the agriculture sector. He said the UAF was established in 1906 as the first agricultural institution in the subcontinent on the recommendations of the famine commission to ensure food security. Director ORIC Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir said that the university was taking all possible steps to address the agriculture challenges with the strong research mechanism. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ansas Sarwar Qureshi appreciated the efforts of the UAF community and hoped that it would continue working with more dedication. Spokesman and Acting Dean Agriculture Dr Jalal Arif said that on the directives of the UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, four trucks of essential items had been dispatched to flood affected areas. He said that the university was in connection with the government to provide the agricultural tools .
